Dual Qualification in Sterilisation and Supervision
This opportunity to study and obtain two qualifications is suitable for people in a supervisory role in a Sterilisation Services Department in a Health Care Facility.

Entry Criteria

Sterilisation personnel who have successfully completed Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (HLT31102 or HLT31107) are eligible to apply for this course.

Training Program

Compulsory Units

  • Establish effective workplace relationships (BSBWOR401A)
  • Promote team effectiveness (BSBWOR402A)
  • Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately (BSBMED301B)
  • Communicate in complex or difficult situations (HLTAMBFC402B)
  • Contribute to organisational effectiveness in the health industry (HLTHIR402B)
  • Implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements (HLTIR506B)
  • Implement and monitor infection control policy and procedures (HLTIN403B)
  • Contribute to OHS processes (HLTOHS300A)
  • Manage availability and effectiveness of reusable medical devices (HLTSTE407A)
  • Manage effectiveness of reprocessing of reusable medical devices (HLTSTE408A)
  • Facilitate effective steam sterilisation (HLTSTE409A)
  • Facilitate effective cleaning functions (HLTSTE410A)
  • Supervise in a health setting (HLTSUP401A)
  • Provide training through instruction and demonstration of work skills (TAADEL301C)
  • Facilitate individual learning (TAADEL403A)

Assessment

Students are assessed against specific performance criteria for each unit of study using workbooks, written assignments, simulations, presentations and practical tasks.

Award

Nationally Recognised Certificate for:

Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services (HLT46807); and,
Certificate IV in Health Supervision (HLT40407)

Fee

$4,800 per person.
