Fundamentals of Wound Management – 1 day short course

Wound management practices have undergone significant change and innovation as a result of an increased understanding of the physiology of wound healing. This course promotes holistic best practice wound management based on clinical research, to reduce wound healing time and eliminate unnecessary patient pain. You will develop a theoretical and practical knowledge framework to assist you in meeting clinical practice standards in wound management for your workplace.

Designed for:
This course is designed for personnel who are responsible for wound assessment and management. While primarily intended for Division 1 and 2 Registered Nurses working in acute medical and surgical environments, community based services, aged care or rehabilitation facilities, the course is also open to PCAs, pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.

• The wound healing process
• Differentiation of acute and chronic wounds
• Recognition and management of infection
• Pressure risk assessment
• Wound assessment and dressings
• Developing a wound management protocol
