This qualification is suitable for people who work in the role of supervisor or senior workplace trainer in a broad range of healthcare settings including support services, technical services, care services, professional support services and administration services.

Entry Criteria

Current employment in a supervisory role in a sterilising services, operating theatre environment or health settings

Training Program

15 Units - 6 compulsory and 9 (pre-selected) elective units

  • Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately (BSBMED301B)
  • Implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements (HLTHIR506B)
  • Implement and monitor infection control policy and procedures (HLTIN403B)
  • Contribute to OHS processes (HLTOHS300A)
  • Supervise in a health setting (HLTSUP401A)
Elective Units
  • Promote innovation in a team environment (BSBINN301A)
  • Apply project scope management techniques (BSBPMG401A)

Assessment

Students are assessed against specific performance criteria for each unit of study. Short assignments, a review of workplace practices, interviews with specified workplace personnel and on-the-job competency assessment.

Award

Nationally Recognised Certificate

Dual Qualification

The Certificate IV in Health Supervision can be completed concurrently with the Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services by undertaking five (5) extra Competency Units. On successful completion both qualifications will be awarded. The cost for the dual qualification is $4,800 which represents excellent value for obtaining 2 qualifications.
