An ideal introductory course for newly employed sterilising services staff or anyone with responsibility for reprocessing reusable medical devices. This course is also suitable for people preparing to gain employment in a sterilising services environment.

Course Benefits

On completion, participants should be able to:
  • Practise standard precautions
  • Minimise the risk of infection transmission in a sterilising services environment
  • Apply basic cleaning procedures to cleaning reusable medical devices
  • Outline the processes involved in preparing items and loads for steam sterilisation
  • Describe the principles of steam sterilisation
  • Discuss the main methods of monitoring a steam sterilisation process
  • Store and handle sterile stock in order to maintain sterility of items
