| Certificate in Infection Control
in Long Term Care Facilities |
 |
Research on infection rates in long term care facilities has identified that infections
can have a significant effect on the well being of residents and associated health care
delivery costs. Proactive infection prevention and surveillance programs can help
improve care outcomes in long term care facilities.
Long term care facilities are those in which residents with limited self-care abilities
are looked after by a variety of health care workers. Examples of long term care
facilities are nursing homes, group homes for people with physical, intellectual or
psychiatric disabilities, psychiatric hospitals and rehabilitation centres.
