Many medical emergencies occur during the course of day-to-day life. It has been noted
through the media that a number of children die or become severely handicapped due to
the mismanagement of emergency medical situations. This course endeavours to provide
the participant with knowledge and skills to manage the most common situations found
in children who are in care.

Training Program
Apply First Aid (HLTFA301B) (also known as Level 2 First Aid or Senior First Aid)
Content
- Review of legal responsibilities
- Health history, documentation and individual-based emergency plans
- An approach to symptoms
- Diabetes management
- Management of allergic reactions (such as food allergies) and anaphylactic shock
- Asthma management
- Competency in administering medications to children in care
- Competency in performing cardio pulmonary resuscitation
- Accreditation requirements
Delivery
3 day practical workshop from 9.00am to 4.00pm

Assessment
Competencies are assessed in a simulated environment.
Award
Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment
Fee
$895 per person. Light lunch provided.

Three weeks prior to course commencement.
Location
Hawthorn campus.
