Contribute to the Complex Nursing Care of Clients (HLTEN505A)

Designed for:
Division 2 Registered Nurses (with Medication Endorsement) wishing to improve their higher acuity patient assessment skills. Ideal for Registered Nurses Division 2 who are working in acute care.

Mayfield Education is running this pre-requisite course to the Administer and Monitor Intravenous Medication in the Nursing Environment (HLTEN519A) to commence on 30 August 2010. This course will be completed prior to the start of the Administer and Monitor Intravenous Medication in the Nursing Environment (HLTEN519A). You can enrol in both courses forwarding your application forms to Student Services.

Entry Criteria
To be eligible to undertake this course, applicants must be Division 2 Registered Nurses with Medication Endorsement. Proof must be provided with your application form.

Course Content
• Perform nursing interventions based on a predetermined care plan addressing identified client needs.
• Reflect the individuality of the client in nursing interventions and undertake nursing interventions with respect to clients dignity
• Accommodate cultural, spiritual and religious issues whilst working with a client.
• Consider physical, emotional and psychosocial issues in the performance of nursing interventions
• Document effective and non effective responses and report to most appropriate person in line with policy
• Perform nursing interventions according to legal, professional and health care environment requirements.
• Assess clients ability to advocate for themselves, including identifying issues that uphold the rights of the clients and support their reasonable expectations.
• Develop, initiate and implement strategies to address client needs in consultation with appropriate personnel
• Provide nursing care appropriate to the management of specific disorders
• Observe, report and document client reactions to medication provided
• Refer any variations to normal or expected outcomes to appropriate personnel

Delivery
3 classroom days and laboratory work
5 day clinical placement

Intake 2: Commencing 30 August 2010 30 August; 6, 13 September 2010

Assessment
Assessment will consist of an assignment plus one week of clinical placement.

Fee

Full fee: $1,010 per person.

Funded fee (available through Skills Victoria): $292.50 plus materials fee $100.
