Below is a listing of our courses under Infection Control and Sterilisation Services programs. There is a brief description of each course, and a link to the course content and application form.
The course coordinator is Breda McKeown, an RN Div 1 with over 35 years experience mostly in peri-operative nursing specialising in Anaesthetics and PACU. Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Operating Theatre Technician Work) - (HLT32512)
The operating theatre technician is an integral person in the dynamic operating theatre team. One of the key roles is the preparation of the operating room and equipment, the patient and the maintenance and safety of these. This course will provide you with the technical and interpersonal skills to work under the supervision of nursing, anaesthetists and surgical personnel.
Certificate IV Operating Theatre Technical Support (HLT42012)
This course is designed to develop leadership and training skills in senior operating room technicians who provide a range of assistance functions to operating room personnel. This course will enhance your ability to facilitate a cooperative team. This course will also deepen your knowledge base and skills in monitoring policy and procedures in the operating suite relevant to your role.
Medical Terminology (BSBMED301)*
This nationally recognised course prepares you for work or study in health care. The course provides an introduction to medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and other health related topics. You will develop an understanding of medical terminology applicable to a range of workplaces in an exciting format.
