Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services (HLT43807)

This qualification is suitable for senior specialists in a sterilising services department who are responsible for the application of standards and quality requirements, stock maintenance and management and the efficacy of equipment and supplies.

Entry Criteria
Sterilisation personnel who have successfully completed Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (HLT31102 or HLT31107) are eligible to apply for this course.

Level 1 computer skills to utilise Mayfield Online.

Training Program
15 Units - 10 Compulsory and 5 (preselected) elective units

• Establish effective workplace relationships (BSBWOR401A)
• Communicate in complex or difficult situations (HLTAMBFC402C)
• Contribute to organisational effectiveness in the health industry (HLTHIR402C)
• Contribute to OHS processes (HLTOHS300B)
• Manage availability and effectiveness of reusable medical devices (HLTSTE407B)
• Manage effectiveness of reprocessing of reusable medical devices (HLTSTE408B)
• Facilitate effective steam sterilisation (HLTSTE409B)
• Facilitate effective cleaning functions (HLTSTE410B)
• Provide work skill instruction (TAEDEL301A)
• Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace (TAEDEL402A)

Elective Units
• Promote innovation in a team environment (BSBINN301A)
• Implement continuous improvement (BSBMGT403A)
• Promote team effectiveness (BSBWOR402A)
• Use business technology (BSBWOR204A)
• Implement and monitor infection control policy and procedures (HLTIN403C)

Students are assessed against specific performance criteria for each unit of study. Workbooks, written assignments and practical tasks.

Learning Pathway
Certificate IV in Health Supervision (HLT40407)
Dual Qualification

The Certificate IV in Health Supervision can be completed concurrently with the Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services by undertaking five (5) extra Competency Units. On successful completion both qualifications will be awarded. The cost for the dual qualification is $5,040 which represents excellent value for obtaining 2 qualifications.

Funded Fee: $1,269.45.

Full Fee: $3,999

Fee instalment plans may be negotiated with students depending on individual circumstances.
