The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification is the industry benchmark for anyone responsible for competency-based training program design, development, delivery and assessment in the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. It is mandated in the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) as the required qualification for trainers and assessors.

Entry Criteria
The course is designed for people who are currently undertaking, or planning to undertake training and assessment responsibliities within their workplace or with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
Training Program
The full qualification consists of 12 core units and 2 selected electives which are grouped into themes. All 14 units must be successfully completed to obtain the full qualificaiton however any of the 4 themes can be studied and obtained individually. This flexibility enables you to complete the cluster of units relevant to your specific needs, for example, if you are assessing the competency of others or facilitating training.
Working in the VET Learning Environment (3 units)
- Work effectively in vocational education and training (TAAENV401B)
- Ensure a healthy and safe learning environment (TAAENV403B)
- Use training packages to meet client needs (TAADES401B)
Program Design (2 units)
- Design and develop learning programs (TAADES402B)
- Plan and organise group-based delivery (TAADEL401B)
Training Delivery and Facilitation (5 units)
- Foster and promote an inclusive learning culture (TAAENV402B)
- Provide training through instruction and demonstration of work skills (selected elective) (TAADEL301C)
- Facilitate group-based learning (selected elective) (TAADEL402B)
- Facilitate individual learning (TAADEL403B)
- Facilitate work-based learning (TAADEL404B)
Assessment of vocational competence (4 units)
- Plan and organise assessment (TAAASS401C)
- Assess competence (TAAASS402B)
- Develop assessment tools (TAAASS403B)
- Participate in assessment validation (TAAASS404B)
Delivery
There are a number of delivery options available for undertaking this program which combines face-to-face workshops as well as off-campus self-paced learning.
Dates
As this course is offered by distance education, the course may be commenced on any date in 2009. Workshop dates will be advised during the course.
Assessment
Students are assessed against specific performance criteria for each unit of study.

Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment on completion of individual units
