Vocational Graduate Diploma in Health (21856VIC)

Candidates may enter the Vocational Graduate Diploma in Health 21856VIC after successful completion of the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Health 21855VIC or equivalanet.

This course will build on the skills gained in the Vocational Graduate Certificate and skill the worker in the areas of leadership change management, workforce development and advanced clinical skills.

Entry Criteria

  • Participants must have completed the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Health or equivalent
  • Attendance at an information and assessment session on Friday 16 March 2012 between 1530 - 1630 hours at Mayfield Education, 2-10 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East.
  • Participants must hold current employment in a management and/or leadership role
  • All participants must reside in Victoria, Australia and be Australian citizens

Training Program
4 units, 3 core units and one elective (from management stream, clinical stream or workforce/professional development stream).

Nominal Hours 280-290 depending on elective chosen.

Units of study are:

Core Units:
• Plan and manage organisational change (VBQU683)
• Provide leadership (VBQU684)
• Plan for contingencies and manage critical incidents (VBQU685)

Elective Units (choose one)
• Review and enhance knowledge management and information systems (VBQU686)
• Facilitate an effective continuum of healthcare (VPAU672)
• Manage evaluations in the healthcare sector (VU20044)
• Develop a systematic approach to continuity of care in the health setting (VBQU687)
• Manage a continuous improvement team (VPAU673)
• Design and implement innovative approaches to skill development for a responsive healthcare workforce (VBQU688)
• Design workforce strenthening initiatives (VPAU674)

Delivery
Mayfield Education uses a blended adult learning approach which includes face-to-face facilitation, workplace coaching, self-directed study and online resources and supports. This includes:

  • 1 workplace induction visit for participant and their nominated workplace mentor
  • Attendance at course information session in-class or online
    Dates: Friday 16 March 2012 or Monday 2 April 2012 from 1530 or at your worksite as pre-arranged.
  • 4 face-to-face workshops
  • 1 presentation workshop
  • 10 x 2 hour workplace coaching
The duration of this course is approximately 10 months.

Dates:
Pre course induction visit (in the workplace as pre-arranged).

Course commencing - Friday 18 May 2012

  • Workshop dates will be held monthly - Friday 18 May; 10 July; 14 September; 15 November 2012; 8 February 2013.
  • Workplace visits will be held monthly (at a mutually beneficial day/time)

Assessment
Students are assessed against specific performance criteria for each unit of study. Short assignments, workplace based assessments, on-the-job competency assessment and presentation.

Nationally Recognised Certificate on completion of all units
